Miami, Florida (AHN) - The answer is no in-case you were wondering. The question? Is hurricane season over? Need proof? Have a look south of the island nation of Cuba and what you will find is Tropical Depression No. 24 stirring up and getting its act together.
If the October depression becomes better organized Sunday (which it is expected to) it will become Wilma... and that means the list of names will have run out for the 2005 Hurricane Season.
So what happens if we have another storm form in the Atlantic Ocean or the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico?
We will go to the Greek alphabet leaving us with the name Alpha to start off the next list.
As it stands Sunday, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami are forecasting T.D. No. 24 to become a Category 2 Hurricane by the middle of this week and move into the eastern Gulf of Mexico. This scenario presents a possibility of landfall for anyone from Tampa to Texas.
A Tropical Storm Warning and a Hurricane Watch are in effect for allof the Cayman Islands.
The depression is expected to produce rainfall of 4 to 6 inches overthe Cayman Islands and Jamaica with isolated totals of 8 to 12inches possible.
